I would recommend this unit. You have to place it in order for the mic, which is a small hole on the front screen, to sense the sound level but it does a nice job.

Easy to read for teens transitioning to apartment from a house. One teen is hard of hearing and does not understand when he gets loud. The hearing loss is recent – this serves as a visual reminder.

I love the large display of this device. Everything lights up nicely, the decibel level, temperature (it has fahrenheit), and humidity. I’m using this in my music room. Of note, there is a small pinhole in the front of the panel which I’m assuming is normal. The first one I got was a bit cracked around that small hole and I returned it for a new one. It’s a very nice little item. It arrived fully charged.
